Merino Wool, Why We Picked It

Everything you need to know about the world’s highest-performing natural fiber : Merino Wool.

We make durable, smart and functional outdoor essentials designed with fabrics of the finest quality to ensure comfort and style, whether you are enjoying a high-pace outdoor activity in the trails or moving around in the city. Quality and sustainability are never compromised.

Merino wool is one of the world’s highest-performing natural yarn, and that's exactly why we selected this conscious natural fabric to design our Parmi Merino tops and bottoms. Merino wool is a natural fiber grown by Merino sheep. It’s thinner and much softer than regular wool—making it easy to wear close to the skin. Offering many benefits such as luxurious comfort, silky softness as well as odour-resistant, antibacterial and moisture-wicking properties, it's the ideal fabric to create multi-use essentials for every adventure, all year round.

Without any further ado, here's everything you need to know about this fabric we love to work with.

Perfect for every path, regardless of the season.
Each fibre naturally helps regulate body temperature, wicks sweat away as vapour, and cancels out odours (we tested it ourselves). By layering with Merino wool, you create an escape route for sweat and excess heat.

Different types of soft Merino are used throughout Parmi garments, with some made from a Merino wool and polyester blend for maximum strength and durability.

Lifewear essentials to simplify your life.
Our Parmi garments are minimalist, but most importantly, they will shake up your wardrobe. Can you imagine wearing the same crew neck on a summer night on a terrasse as you would on a fall bike ride or even on a cross-country ski day? Although it may sound far-fetched, that is exactly the type of versatility Merino wool promises. Thin, delicate and soft to the touch, Merino works for everyone and every style.

Don’t be hesitant, even if our Merino garments look more fashionable than technical, wear them outside, wear them out.

Odour-resistant and moisture-wicking properties.
Merino’s natural odour-resistant properties allow you to wear your garment multiple times in between washings – ideal for a life on the move, for travelling, or for longer paths when you may not have as much room to pack. Less washing also goes along with our sustainable vision.

A little care goes a long way for long durability.
To make sure your Merino clothes last a lifetime, machine wash your Parmi Merino in cold water, only when needed. We recommend washing your garment with delicate items and laying it flat to dry on a towel. You may also use a dryer set on low heat.

Ethical, simple and biodegradable.
Merino wool is ethically harvested from free-range sheep. It’s biodegradable. It’s natural. After all, it’s wool. Merino wool disappears after about 12 months in the ground and gives carbon and nutrients back to the earth.

But the most important fact is that it lasts, and its simplicity makes the garments interesting and relevant to pass over to someone else, for them to embark on a whole new path.
